Why we need parliament? Explain in four points. Or Mention two legislative and two non-legislative functions of Parliament.

    Answer:

We need Parliament because of its Legislative and Non-legislative functions. Legislative functions:   (a) Parliament makes laws on the subjects of the Central and Concurrent List and in special circumstances on the subjects of the State List also. (b) Parliament also has residuary powers. It means that Parliament can make laws on all those subjects which are not included in any of the three lists mentioned above. Non-Legislative functions: (a) Both Houses of Parliament enjoy the power to amend the Constitution. (b) Parliament can remove the President form office through the process of impeachment. The judges of The Supreme Court and High Courts can be removed by a joint address by both Houses of Parliament.
