    Consider the following pairs
    1. Mercury : Jovian planet
    2. Venus : Duration of day longer than that of year
    3. Saturn : A planet having density less than that of water
Which of the pairs given above is/are correctly matched?

    A) 1 only

    B) 2 and 3 only

    C) 1 and 3 only

    D) 1, 2 and 3

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Mercury is not a Jovian planet but inner or terrestrial planet. Jovian means Jupiter- like (the largest planet of the solar system). With equatorial diameter of just 4875 km, Mercury is the smallest planet of the solar system. Venus has rotation period of 243 days (duration of day) and revolution period around the sun of 224.4 days (duration of the year). Thus the planet Venus has duration of day longer than that of year. Saturn has density of 0.69 which is less that the of water (1.0)
