    Consider the following statements:

    A) ?Kant's hypothesis regarding the origin of the solar system was based on Newton's laws of gravitation

    B) ?This is known as gaseous hypothesis

    C) ?He assumed that in the beginning primordial matter was scattered in the space

    D) ?His hypothesis is in accordance with the law of Conservation of Angular Momentum Which of the above statements is wrong?

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

?Statements a, b and c are correct but Kant's hypothesis is not in accordance with law of conservation of Angular Momentum. According to this law, the sum total of rotation in a closed system remains constant. The rotation may be transferred from one body to another, but the sum neither increases nor decreases. As against this, Kant suggested that angular momentum in the primordial matter was produced by the collision of its particles.
