Why is the note produced by a open organ pipe sweeter than that produced by the closed organ pipe?

Answer:

                The note produced by open organ pipe consists of both odd and even harmonics but the note produced by closed organ pipe consists of only the odd harmonics. Due to presence of larger number of overtones or harmonics, the note produced by the open organ pipe is sweeter.
