What changes occur in ovary during fruit formation?

    Answer:

A fruit is formed after fertilisation as a result of cell division and differentiation in the ovary, i.e. a ripened ovary forms a fruit. The wall of the ovary develops into the fruit wall called pericarp, which may be freshy, e.g. guava, tomato and cucumber or may be leathery and dry, e.g. pea, bean and mustard. It is having three layers, i.e. epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp. Pericarp protects the seeds and helps in their dispersal. Fruits contain very large number of seeds like there dispersal. Fruits contain very large number of seeds like there thousands of tiny seeds in orchid fruit, Orobanche and Striga (parasitic species), Ficus, etc.
