    How is polypeptide chain synthesis terminated during protein synthesis?

    Answer:

    Synthesis of polypeptide chain terminates when a non-sense codon of mRNA reaches the A-site. The three non-sense codons, i.e. UAA, UAG and UGA are not recognised by tRNA. Therefore, no aminoacyl tRNA reaches the A-site. Hence, P-site is hydrolysed in the presence of GTP dependent release factor to release the complete polypeptide.
