(i) Fermentation is the process of conversion of carbohydrates to alcohol and \[C{{O}_{2}}\] or organic acids with the help of microbes such as bacteria and yeast. Microbes via fermentations are utilised for the synthesis of number of products that are valuable for human beings.

(ii) Some important applications of microbes in different industries are as follows

(a) In production of fermented beverages, e.g. yeasts are used for the production of wine, beer, whisky, etc.

(b) In antibiotic production, e.g. penicillin from Penicillium notatum.

(iii) Teacher is knowledgeable and shows moral responsibility alongwith'his commitment to service as a professional teacher.
