What role does luteinising hormone play in human males and females? Explain the effect and the changes which the hormone induces in each case.

    Answer:

The target cells of luteinising hormone in males are Leydig cells and in females are the mature follicles. LH in males stimulates Leydig cells of testes to synthesis and secretes androgens which inturn stimulate spermatogenesis. In females, LH stimulates ovulation and transformation of Graafian follicle into corpus luteum, so that it can secrete progesterone.
