Haemophilia is a sex - linked recessive disease. Explain.

    Answer:

Haemophilia is a sex - linked disorder which is passed from a parent to his/her grandchild of the same sex through offspring of opposite sex, i.e. father passes it to his grandson through his daughter, while the mother transfers it to her granddaughter through her son. The gene for haemophilia is located on X - chromosome. It is a recessive disease as it expresses itself only in homozygous condition, i.e. \[{{X}^{C}}{{X}^{C}}\]. In heterozygous condition, female will be carrier \[{{X}^{C}}X\].
