What is glycogen? How is it different from starch?                                                                                                            [2]

    Answer:

Animals store their excess glucose in a polysaccharide known as glycogen. Glycogen has a structure similar to that of amylopectin but with more branches. The high degree of branching in glycogen has important physiological effects. Starch is a polymer of glucose and consists of two components.                                       (a) Amylose-water soluble (15-20%)       (b) Amylopectin water insoluble(85%)
