    Solution :

    Six people contribute a total of Rs 180. Let the seventh person contributes Rs x. Eight person contributes Rs 55. Total contributions of these eight persons \[=235+x\] Now,     \[x=\frac{235+x}{8}+10\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{7}{8}x=\frac{1}{8}\,(235)+10\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=45\] \[\therefore \] Total collection = 235 + 45 = Rs 280
