    Direction:  Each of the next 15 questions consists of two statements, one labelled as 'assertion' (A) and other as 'Reason' (R). You are to examine these two statements carefully and select the correct answer.
    Assertion (A) A servant removes a wrist watch from the table and keeps it concealed under the carpet in the same room for fear of being detected He is guilty of theft.
    Reason (R) To be guilty of offence of theft, a person must move and take away property stolen.

    A)  Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A

    B)  Both A and R are true, but R is not the correct explanation of A

    C)  A is true, but R is false

    D)  A is false, but R is true                            

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    According to Section 378 of the Indian Penal Code, 1860, both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of (A). As per Section 378 IPC, whoever intends to take dishonestly any moveable property, out of the possession of any person without that person's consent, moves that property in order to such taking, is said to commit theft.
