    Some pens are not jugs.
    Conclusions
    I. All pens are jugs.
    II. Some glasses are pens.
    III. Some cups are pens
    IV. All pens are cups.
    Assuming only that all statements are true, which of the above conclusions may be deduced?

    B)  Only II

    C)  II and IV         

    D)  Ill and IV

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    Statement I all jugs are glasses \[\xrightarrow{\text{conversion}}\] some glasses are jugs and some glasses are not jugs. Now, some glasses are jugs + All jugs are pens (Statement III) \[\Rightarrow \] Some glasses are pens. Again, Statement I + Statement II \[\Rightarrow \] All jugs are cups \[\Rightarrow \] Some cups are jugs and some cups are jugs + All jugs are pens (Statement III) \[\Rightarrow \] Some cups are pens. Hence I Conclusions II and IV follow.
