  • question_answer
A candidate who gets 20% marks in an examination fails by 30 marks but another candidate who gets 32%, gets 42 marks more than the pass marks. Then, the percentage of pass marks is

    A)  52%

    B)  50%

    C)  33%

    D)  25%

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Let total marks \[=x\] Passing marks \[=\frac{20}{100}x+30=\frac{32}{100}x-42\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=\frac{72\times 100}{12}=600\] \[\therefore \] Percentage of passing marks \[=\left( \frac{\frac{20}{100}\times 600+30}{600}\times 100 \right)%\] \[=\frac{150}{600}\times 100%=25%\]
