A train passes a railway bridge 150 m long in 18 s. If the train is running at a speed of 60 km/h, then the length of the train is

    A)  160 m

    B)  150 m

    C)  180 m

    D)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let the length of the train be x m \[\therefore \] Total distance covered by the train \[=(x+150)\,\text{m}\] Speed of the train \[=60\,km/h=60\times \frac{5}{18}=\frac{50}{3}\,m/s\] Since,    Distance = Speed \[\times \] time \[\therefore \,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,x+150=\frac{50}{3}\times 18=300\] \[\Rightarrow \,\,\,\,\,x=300-150=150\,\text{m}\] \[\therefore \] Length of the train = 150 m
