Dear Diary,

Today, I feel very happy and content since I have returned from the neighboring village of my grandma. She told me about her desire to learn how to read. I mocked at her at first. Oops! But I know it was a serious mistake. Then I tried to understand her feelings, her keen desire to be literate. She asked me to teach her. My pleasure, it was! I started teaching her. She was a brilliant and wonderful student. She was good at doing her homework. I was amazed at the way she could read, repeat, write and recite. She had kept Diwali as the deadline and she made it. Yes, I knew she is a determined lady. I am really very happy for her. Even she feels independent now. I am very happy for my grandmother and proud of her spirit which led her towards learning at such an age. I felt satisfaction deep inside me when I saw my grandmother reading books and was not dependent on anyone any more.
