National Festival

India became a Republic and adopted its own constitution on the 26th of January, 1950. Since then, 26th January is celebrated with great enthusiasm. The President of India presides over the Republic Day parade which is held in Delhi from Rajghat along the Vijay Path to mark this day. The President unfurls the National Flag and he is also given a twenty-one gun salute. There is a colorful march-past of the armed forces. Various war weapons are displayed. Cultural programmes of various states are presented.

School children from various schools and folk artists also take part in the parade.

Value of Discipline

Discipline can be defined as a mode of ideal conduct based on obedience to law, regularity and a sense of duty. Discipline is the national virtue of a great nation. In discipline lies the strength of a nation. We can notice discipline in nature too. The earth, the moon, the sun, all follow a certain system. Discipline is necessary in all walks of life. Whether it is playground or school or college, discipline is important everywhere. Without it our goal can never be achieved. Children must be taught to obey their parents, and their teachers. They must be taught to follow the norms of life, to follow the rules of discipline inside and outside the homes. We should get inspiration from the lives of the great men such as Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln and so on. These great persons valued discipline in their entire life. We should also do the same in order to achieve our goals. Discipline should be our guide and guardian. We must keep it in mind that a disciplined person is loved and liked by all. Only a discipline men is able to achieve maximum success in his life.

A Visit to a Historical Place

A visit to a historical place is always knowledge. Last year I went to Agra. Agra is a historical city. It has many buildings of historical interest. The most famous is Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I have no words to express its beauty. The white marble looks like silver. The reflection of it in the water is simply enchanting. The four minarets add to its beauty. The grassy lawns are sprauring. It looks like a dream in the moon-lit night. I can?t forget my visit to Taj Mahal. Besides Taj Mahal, there is Fatehpur Sikri and Agra Fort also. They are also a remarkable piece of Mughal architecture. These monuments give a very deep insight into the Mughal Era.
