    A)  Only 1

    B)  1 and 2

    C)  1 and 3

    D)  Only 3

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

[a] Redrawing of boundaries and renaming of states is an example where a provision affecting states can be amended with only a simple majority. Statement 2 is also incorrect. While the provisions related to election to Parliament and State Legislatures can be amended with a simple majority, those which amend the provisions relating to election of the President require a special majority along with ratification by half the states. Statement 3 is incorrect. Recently, the attempt to give constitutional status to Lok Pal in the Lok Sabha was adopted, when the special majority was available initially, but during the clause by passing of the bill, there was no special majority and thus, the bill could not be passed.
