These rocks do not contain fossils and are found in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya and Rajasthan. Since, the rocks of the Dharwar System are of mainly sedimentary origin, these occur in narrow elongated synclines resting on the gneiss found in Bellary district. Rocks are highly metalliferous. They are rich in iron-ore, manganese, lead, zinc, gold, silver etc, but not in uranium.
