    Let the age of the youngest child be x years. According to the question, \[x+x+5+x+10=45\] or, \[3x+15=45\] or, \[3x=30\] or, \[x=10\] And the age of the oldest child = 10 + 10 = 20 years \[\therefore \] Sum = 10 + 20 = 30 years Quicker Approach: Average age \[=\frac{45}{3}=15\]years \[\Rightarrow \]ages are 10, 15, 20 \[\therefore \] Reqd sum = 10 + 20 = 30 years
