The ratio of two positive number A and B is\[4:5\]. Now A is increased by 25% and 3 is added to it. B is doubled and 3 is added to it. The ratio of the resultant A to resultant B becomes\[3:5\]. What is the original value of B?

    A)  9

    B)                     8

    C)         6

    D)         12

    E)         None of these

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    \[A:B\] \[4x:5x\] Now,\[4x\times \frac{125}{100}+3:2\times 5x+3\] \[=5x+3:10x+3\] According to the question,             \[\frac{5x+3}{10x+3}=\frac{3}{5}\] or, \[25x+15=30x+9\] or, \[6=5x\] \[\therefore \]\[x=\frac{6}{5}=1.2\] Original value of\[B=5x=5\times 1.2=6\]
