A smartphone costs 10 times the cost of a headphone. On the smartphone there is a profit of 15% while the total profit on selling the headphone and the smartphone is 20%. If there is a profit of Rs. 2800 on selling the headphone then find the cost price of the smartphone.

    A)  Rs. 390000

    B)  Rs. 40000

    C)  Rs. 45000

    D)    Rs. 52000

    E)  None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Let the CP of the headphone be Rs. x. \[\therefore \] CP of the smartphone = 10 x \[\therefore \] Total SP = \[11x\times \frac{120}{100}=13.2x\] SP of the smartphone \[=10x\times \frac{115}{100}=11.5x\] SP of the headphone \[=13.2x-11.5x=1.7x\] So, profit on the headphone \[=1.7x-x=0.7x\] According to the question, \[0.7x=2800\] \[\therefore x=4000\] So, the cost price of the smartphone\[=10x\] \[=10\times 4000=Rs.\,40000\]
