If \[x={{\cos }^{-1}}(cos4)\]and \[y={{\sin }^{-1}}(sin3)\]then which of the following holds?

    A)  \[x-y=1\]

    B)  \[x+y+1=0\]

    C)  \[x+2y=2\]

    D)  \[\tan (x+y=-\tan 7\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

     \[x={{\cos }^{-1}}(cos4)\] \[={{\cos }^{-1}}(cos(2\pi -(2\pi -4))\] \[y={{\sin }^{-1}}(sin3)={{\sin }^{-1}}\sin (\pi -3)=\pi -3\] \[\therefore \]  \[x+y=3\pi -7\] \[\therefore \]  \[\tan (x+y)=-\tan 7\]
