  • question_answer
    Consider the following endothermic reaction,
    \[F{{e}^{3+}}(aq)+C{{l}^{-}}\,FeC{{l}^{2+}}(aq)\]
    Equilibrium may be disturbed by
    I. Addition of ferric nitrate
    II. Addition of silver nitrate
    III. Change in temperature
    IV. Addition of catalyst
    Select the correct factors

    A)  I and III only

    B)  I, II and III only

    C)  II and III only

    D)  I, II, III and IV

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    I. \[Fe{{(N{{O}_{3}})}_{2}}\] provides \[F{{e}^{3+}}\] so, its addition shifts the equilibrium in forward direction. II. \[A{{g}^{+}}\] provided by \[AgN{{O}_{3}}\] reacts with \[C{{l}^{-}}\] which remain less available in reaction, so reaction goes in backward direction. III. Since, the reaction is endothermic, increase in temperature shifts the reaction in forward direction. IV. Addition of catalyst does not affect the state of equilibrium.
