JEE Main & Advanced Sample Paper JEE Main Sample Paper-4

  • question_answer
For an obtuse angled triangle, whose vertices are represented by A, B, C. If \[\Sigma \tan A={{x}^{2}}-4x+6,\]then

    A) \[x\in (2,5)\]

    B) \[x\in (-\infty ,\infty )\]

    C)  Data insufficient

    D)  none of these

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    As \[\Sigma \tan A=\tan A.\tan B.\tan C\]also for obtuse angled triangle \[\tan A.\tan B.\tan C<0\] \[\therefore \]\[{{x}^{2}}-4x+6<0\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[{{(x-2)}^{2}}+2<0\]which is not possible for any value of x.
