The speed of light in vacuum is \[3\times {{10}^{8}}\] m/s. Sunlight takes about 8 min. to reach the Earth. Express distance of Sun from Earth in standard form.

    Answer:

    Speed of light = 3 × 108m/s and time = 8 min. = 8 × 60 = 480 seconds ∴ Distance = Speed × Time \[=3\times {{10}^{8}}\times 480\text{ }m\] \[=3\times {{10}^{8}}\times {{4}^{8}}\times {{10}^{1}}\text{ }m\] \[=144\times {{10}^{9}}\text{ }m\] \[=\frac{144}{100}\times {{10}^{9+2}}\text{ }m\] \[=1\cdot 44\times {{10}^{11}}\text{ }m\]
