(i) Subtract the sum of \[3\frac{5}{9}\] and \[3\frac{1}{3}\] from the sum of \[5\frac{5}{6}\] and \[4\frac{1}{9}\]. |
(ii) What is difference between like fractions and unlike fractions. |
Answer:
(i) The sum of \[3\frac{5}{9}\] and \[3\frac{1}{3}=3\frac{5}{9}+3\frac{1}{3}\] \[=\frac{32}{9}+\frac{10}{3}\] \[=\frac{32+30}{9}=\frac{62}{9}\] and the sum of \[5\frac{5}{6}\] and \[4\frac{1}{9}=\frac{35}{6}+\frac{37}{9}\] \[=\frac{105+74}{18}=\frac{179}{18}\] According to condition, \[\frac{179}{18}-\frac{62}{9}=\frac{179-124}{18}\] \[=\frac{55}{18}=3\frac{1}{18}\] (ii) Like fractions have same denominators and unlike fractions have different denominators.
