Oranges are to be transferred from larger boxes in to smaller boxes. When a large box is emptied. The oranges from it fill into two smaller boxes and still 10 oranges remain outside. If the number of oranges in a small box are taken to be x. What is the number of oranges in a larger box?

    Answer:

Number of oranges in the larger box = 2 \[\times \] number of oranges in the small box + oranges left over \[=2\times x+10=2x+10\]                                                                                                                      \[=2(x+5)\]                                                                                                                                           where, x = number of oranges in the small box.
