The length of a rectangular field is twice its breadth. Jamal jogged around it four times and covered a distance of 6 km. What is the length of the field?

    Answer:

    Let breadth of a rectangular field be x m and length of a rectangular field be 2x m. Given, distance covered by Jamal in four round                                     \[=6\text{ }km\] \[=6\times 1000\text{ }m=60000\text{ }m\] [\[\because \] \[1\text{ }km=1000\text{ }m\]] Now, distance covered by Jamal in one round                         \[=\frac{6000}{4}m=1500\,\,m\] We, know that, Distance covered by Jamal in one round = Perimeter of the rectangular field \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{6000}{4}=2(Length\,+\,Breadth)\] \[\therefore \] \[2\times [2x+x]=\frac{6000}{4}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2\times 3x=\frac{6000}{4}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[6x=\frac{6000}{4}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{6000}{4\times 6}=250\,\,m\] \[\therefore \] Length of the rectangular field is \[2x=2\times 250=500\text{ }m\] Hence, the length of a rectangular fields is 500 m.
