Two super-fast trains P and Q start from stations A and B towards B and A respectively. After passing each other, they take 4 h 48 min and 3 h 20 min to reach B and A respectively. If the train P is moving at 45 km/h, then find the speed of train Q

    A) 56 km/h

    B)  64.8 km/h

    C)  37.5 km/h

    D)  54 km/h

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    \[\frac{P's\,\,\text{rate}}{Q's\,\,\text{rate}}=\]\[\sqrt{\frac{\text{Time}\,\,\text{taken}\,\,\text{by}\,\,\text{Q}\,\,\text{to}\,\,\text{reach}\,\,\text{A}}{\text{Time}\,\,\text{taken}\,\,\text{by}\,\,P\,\text{to}\,\,\text{reach}\,\,\text{B}}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[\frac{45}{Q's\,\,rate}=\sqrt{\frac{10}{3}\times \frac{5}{24}}\]\[=\sqrt{\frac{25}{36}}=\frac{5}{6}\] \[\therefore \] \[Q's\,\,rate\]\[=\left[ \frac{45\times 6}{5} \right]\]km /h=54 km/h
