    For which of the following years, the percentage rise/fall in number of students left from the previous years is the highest?

    Solution :

    Percentage of rise in number of students left for the previous year in 1994
    \[=\frac{350-250}{250}\times 100\]
    \[=\frac{100}{250}\times 100=4%\]
    Similarly in \[1995=\frac{400-350}{350}\times 100\]
    \[=\frac{50}{350}\times 100=14.29%\]
    \[1996=\frac{400-300}{400}\times 100=\frac{100}{400}\times 100=25%\](fall)
    \[1997=\frac{500-300}{300}\times 100=66.66%\]
    \[1998=\frac{500-500}{500}\times 100=0\]
    Hence, it was highest in 1997.
