    Solution :

Then, \[u+v=\frac{48}{8}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[u+v=6\]                                  ...(i) and       \[u-v=\frac{48}{12}\]   \[\Rightarrow \]   \[u-v=4\]                                   ...(ii) On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get \[v=1\,\,km/h\]
