    If \[2x+y=35\]and \[3x+4y=65,\]then the value of \[\frac{x}{y}\]is

    A)  \[\frac{12}{5}\]

    B)  \[\frac{15}{4}\]

    C)  \[3\]

    D)  \[4\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Here, \[2x+y=35\]                                 ?(i) and \[3x+4y=65\]                                  ...(ii) On multiply Eq. (i) by 4 and Eq, (ii) subtracting from in Eq. (i), we get                                 Put the value of x in Eq. (i),\[2\times 15+y=35\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[y=35-30=5\] Then,    \[\frac{x}{y}=\frac{15}{5}=3\]
