Recently, a newspaper article mourned the total disappearance of the common house sparrow. This was a comment on the city's perceptible move towards edging out the flora and fauna of the city. In the rapid urbanisation, multistoried apartments grew and large- scale felling of trees became necessary. Last week, however, seven pairs of these sparrows were spotted in a suburb. Possibly the greener of this place has created a new habitat for these birds which have liked their proximity to human beings, and have made a come-back.
