    The respective ratio of the number of boys to the number of girls studying in a School is 25 : 29. The total number of students studying in the School is 270. If 15 boys and 15 girls take admission in the School, what will be the new respective ratio of the boys and girls studying in the school?

    Solution :

     Let \[x\]be included in the ratio. According to the question,             \[25x+29x=270\]          \[\therefore \] \[54x=270\]  \[\therefore \] \[x=\frac{270}{54}=5\]  Number of boys  \[=25x=25\,\,\,\,5=125\] Number of girls \[=29x\]             \[=29\,\,\,5=145\] Total boys \[=125+15=140\] Total girls  \[=145+15=160\] \[\therefore \]New respective ratio of the boys and girls. \[=\frac{140}{160}=\frac{7}{8}=7:8\]
