Explain any three factors which have enabled the farmers to increase the productivity of their land.                        (3)  

Answer:

    Factors increasing productivity of land include (i) Irrigation Using tube wells and canals, farmers are able to grow more than one crop in an year, thus increasing productivity. (ii) HYV Seeds Use of the High Yielding Variety of seeds enables farmers to get more crops from the same area of land, increasing productivity. (iii) Fertilizers  and Pesticides  By using fertilisers, the productivity of land went up. Pesticides destroy any pests which can cause plants to die, ensuring a full harvest.
