Direction: Read the following passage carefully and answer the question. Certain words are given in bold to help you locate them while answering some of the question.
Once there was a beautiful verdant island. It had forests with huge trees, waterfalls gushing with clear blue water and mountains which quarries of a unique stone. The stone was valued for its attractive colour and texture. It was also easy to turn it into sculptures. Now the island was ruled by a king who looked after his subjects and the natural beauty of the island well. His closest advisor and friend was a sculptor who ran a school where students from far and wide came to learn the art of sculpting. But the teacher had an odd condition for students who studied at his school. He insisted they bring their own supply of stone. Only for their final sculpture were they allowed to use a piece of stone from the island's quarry. Many grumbled at this rule. After all dragging tons of stone to an island in the middle will we be able to save this island for our children? The King applauded his thinking and let him continue to run the school the way he wanted.
But one day the king who was aging dead and his son Rehmat was crowned king. King Rehmat wanted to do everything differently, to make the island prosperous and have lovely statues decorating the island. He changed many laws and also lifted the rule that the old teacher had imposed. He made the old teacher step down and brought in someone else to run the school. Now more people would come to the school to study and the fees they paid could be increased or so he believed. Soon the island was full of students chipping away at the stone. Their demand increased the mining at the quarry. They created large sculptures which now needed to get transported back down. Trees were cut down to make carts and to clear the roads. Without trees to provide wood for thick boats the fisherman could not go out to fish. New houses that were built were not as strong as both wood and stone were scarce. It was difficult for farmers to make good ploughs for farming.
