How many kg of rice costing Rs. 56 per kg must be mixed with 27 kg of rice costing Rs. 77 per kg, that there may be a gain of 25% by selling the mixture at Rs. 81.26 per kg?

    A)  32

    B)  50

    C)  40

    D)  36

    E)  28

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

             Profit on mixture =25% \[\therefore \]C.P of mixture per kg             \[=Rs.\left( \frac{100}{125}\times 81.25 \right)=Rs.65\]             By allegation rule, \[\therefore \]Required ratio = 12: 9 = 4 : 3 \[\therefore \] Required quantity of rice \[=\frac{4}{3}\times 27=36kg\]
