A, B and C invested in a business for 12 months, 10 months and 12 months respectively. The amount that B invested was half of the amount that A invested and one-third of the amount that C invested. If at the end of the year, A received Rs. 2904 as his share in the profit, what was C's share in the profit?

    A)  Rs. 4176

    B)  Rs. 4500

    C)  Rs. 4932

    D)  Rs. 4644

    E)  Rs. 4356

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

     Let A's investment = Rs. x \[\therefore \]B's investment = Rs. \[\frac{x}{2}\] C's investment = Rs. \[\frac{3x}{2}\] \[\therefore \]Ratio of shares of A, B and C \[=(x\times 12):\left( \frac{x}{2}\times 10 \right):\left( \frac{3x}{2}\times 12 \right)\] \[=12:5:18\] \[\therefore \]A : C = 12 : 18 = 2 : 3 \[\therefore \]A's share = Rs. 2904 \[\therefore \]C's share \[=Rs.\left( \frac{3}{2}\times 2904 \right)=Rs.4356\]
