Direction: The questions is accompanied by three statements III and III. You have to determine which statement(s) is/are sufficient/necessary to answer the question.
In a room there are two windows and one door. What will be the cost of papering the walls of the room, whose length, width and height are 4m, 3m and 6m respectively?
    I. The cost of papering the walls is Rs.44 per square metre.
II. The windows and the door have dimensions \[\text{1}\frac{\text{1}}{\text{2}}\text{m }\!\!\times\!\!\text{ 1m}\] and \[\text{2m}\times \text{2}\frac{1}{2}m\] respectively.
III. The area of the windows is \[\text{1}\text{.25}{{\text{m}}^{\text{2}}}\], which is one fourth of the area of the door.

    A)  Only I

    B)  Only I and II

    C)  All I, II and III

    D)  Only land III

    E)  Either I and II together or I and III together

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

    From I and II. Total cost of papering the walls \[=44\times \left[ 2\times 6(4+3)-\left( 2\times \frac{5}{2}+1\times \frac{3}{2} \right) \right]\] \[=44\times \left[ 84-\left( 5+\frac{3}{2} \right) \right]=44\times \frac{155}{2}=Rs.3410\] From I and III. Total cost of papering the walls \[=44\times (2\times 6(4+3)-(5+1.25))\] \[=44\times [84-6.25]=73421\] Hence either I and II together or I and III together are sufficient to answer.
