A dealer buys three types of mangoes at Rs.60, Rs.40 and Rs.20 per kg respectively. He mixes them in the ratio of 1 : 2 : 3 by weight and sells them at a profit of 35%. At what price does he sell the mangoes?

    A)  Rs.43 per kg

    B)  Rs.45 per kg

    C)  Rs.40 per kg

    D)  Rs.47 per kg

    E)       None of these

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Suppose the dealer purchases 1 kg, 2 kg and 3 kg of mangoes respectively of each type. Then, the price of total mangoes \[\text{=1}\times \text{60+2}\times \text{40+3}\times \text{20= Rs}\text{.200}\] As the total mangoes weigh 6 kg and the dealer makes a profit of 35%, the selling price of the mangoes per kg \[=200\times \frac{135}{100}\times \frac{1}{6}=Rs.45\]
