Gul Mohammed was a rich businessman. He had a big departmental store and earned a lot. But he lived a very simple life. He didn't want others to know about his income. Gul Mohammed had a small house where he lived with his beautiful wife Noor. She was very pretty. The couple did not employ any servant at their house. His wife did all her household work herself Gul Mohammed was afraid that if he employed a servant, he may steal his hard-earned money. So he kept all his money in a safe. He was happy with his life. But one thing aggrieved him, and that was his being issueless. He prayed fervently to God to bless him with a child who would be his heir after him. One night when Noor was deep asleep, Gul Mohammed happened to see a thief in his house. The thief was hiding behind his safe. He had entered the house in the evening and was waiting for the couple to sleep. Gul Mohammed didn't; make a noise thinking that the thief must have come armed with weapons. And if he cried for help, the thief might kill them both. He began thinking quickly. Gul Mohammed said to his wife, “Noor, there is a good news for you. I happened to meet a saint today, and he prophesied that we are going to be blessed with a son within a year.”             Noor sat down to listen to the good news and said, “Thank God, we shall have a son now. I am really happy.”             Gul said, “What would you name him?”             “I would call him Parvez,” said Noor. Gul expressed his disapproval on this name and said, “I do not like this name. Parvez is the name of a bad character in our locality. Please think of some other name.”             Noor said, “If you do not like this name, we can call him Sultan.”             Gul said, “Sultan is a good name, but it is the name of our enemy. Will you suggest some other name?” The thief was laughing in his mind listening to their conversation. He thought that they do not yet have a child, and they are discussing names. Noor said, “I think Ali will be a perfect name. You would also like this name.” Gul said, “Yes, I like this name because this is the name of our neighbour. You know, no thief can dare steal our hard-earned money, because Alt lives in our neighbourhood. He is a police officer. But tell me, how would you call your son when found playing on the roof?”             Noor was happy that her husband had liked the name. She called “Ali! Ali! My son! Please come down.” Gut was pleased to hear this. He again said, “If your son Ali goes to play outside the house, how would you call him?”             Noor said, "Then I shall have to call him louder, “Ali! Ali! Come soon! I am waiting for you.” At the same time the doorbell rang. Noor went to see and opened the door. Ali had come to ask what the problem was. Gul called him inside and pointed towards the safe and said that someone was hiding behind it. The thief tried to escape, but Ali caught him. He arrested him and took him to police station. Thus Gul outsmarted the thief and saved his hard-earned money.
