Direction: In a certain code, the letters of English alphabet (consonants and vowels) are coded for some words. The numerical code for each letter is given in bracket in coded form and corresponds to the letter in the word in the same serial order. Study the coded forms of the given words and find out the rules for their coding. Applying these rules, answer the questions that follow in the two sets.
    WORD : CODED FORMS
    REST : [10] [30] [10] [10]
    KEEN : [10] [25] [25] [10]
    TAX : [10] [1] [10]
    DUE : [10] [3] [3]
    PAY : [10] [1] [10]
    GAPS : [10] [30] [10] [10]
    SAME : [10] [15] [10] [15]
    ANY : [1] [10] [10]
    MUCH : [10] [30] [10] [10]
    OVER : [30] [10] [30] [10]
    BUT : [10] [1] [10]
    STEP : [10] [10] [30] [10]
Find out the coded form of each of the words printed in bold:

    LED

    A) [15] [10] [1]

    B) [1] [10] [10]

    C)  [10] [1] [10]

    D)  [10] [3] [10]

    E)  Other than the given options

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

    L E D
    [10] [1] [10]
Rule I. If the word is of 4 letters: Rule 1. If the last letter is consonant then those consonants are replaced by (10) while vowels are replaced by (2 if both the vowels are same or (30) if both the vowels are different or if there is only one vowel. Rule 2. If the vowels occupy the second and fourth place only then those vowels are replaced by (15), while the consonants are replaced by (10). Rule II: If the word is of three letters: Rule 1. if there are two vowels then those vowels are replaced by , while the consonant is replaced by (10) Rule 2. If there are two consonants then those consonants are replaced by (10) while the vowels is replaced by . Thus in each and every case consonants are coded as (10) but numeric value assigned to vowels varies.
