  • question_answer
From a pack of 52 cards 2 cards are drawn together at random. What is the probability that one is a spade and the other one is a heart?

    A) \[\frac{1}{13}\]

    B) \[\frac{25}{57}\]

    C) \[\frac{35}{256}\]

    D) \[\frac{13}{102}\]

    E) Rs.\[\frac{37}{49}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Sample space n(S) \[={{\,}^{52}}{{C}_{2}}=\frac{52\times 51}{2}=1326\] The number of events of getting 1 spade and 1 heart or, n= Number of ways of choosing 1 spade out of 13 and 1 heart out of 13. \[{{\,}^{13}}{{C}_{1}}\times \,{{\,}^{13}}C=13\times 13=169\] \[\therefore \]\[P(E)=\frac{n(E)}{n(S)}=\frac{169}{1326}=\frac{13}{102}\]
