Direction: Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Give answer
Six persons A, B, C, D, E and F were playing a game of cards. Who won the game?
    I. A's mother, father and aunt were in a group. There were two men. B, the father of A, got more points than his wife. D got more points than E but less than F. Mother of A got more points than F but could not win the game.
II. Nephew of E got the lowest points.

    A)  if the data in statement I alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement II alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

    B)  if the data in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question, while the data in statement I alone are not sufficient to answer the question.

    C)  if the data either in statement I alone or in statement II alone are sufficient to answer the question.

    D)  if the data in statement I and II together are not sufficient to answer the question.

    E)  if the data in both statements I and II together are necessary to answer the question.

    Correct Answer: E

    Solution :

From I. B is A's father. B>B 's wife...(i) F>D>E ...(ii) A's mother >F ...(iii) Combining (i), (ii) and (iii) B > C > F > D > E Clearly C is A's mother and B's wife. But A's score is not mentioned. Hence I alone is not sufficient to answer. From II. Nephew of E has the lowest score. From I and II together. B>OF>D>E>A B is the winner Hence, both I & II are required to answer.
