What does the Constitution say with regard to equality? Why do you think it is important for all people to be equal?

(a) With regards to equality, the Constitution says:

(i) Government jobs are open to all.

(ii) Everyone has equal rights and opportunities.

(iii)Untouchability is seen as a crime and has been legally abolished by law.

(iv) People are free to choose the kind of work they wish to do.

(b) It is important for all people is be equal so that they all live together peacefully and respect one another in all the spheres of life.
