    Solution :

    Let the income of two persons are Rs. 5x and Rs. 3x and the expenditure of two persons are Rs. 9y and Rs. 5y respectively. \[\therefore \]      \[5x-9y=1300\]                          ?(i) and       \[3x-5y=900\]                            ?(ii) On solving Eqs. (i) and (ii), we get             \[x=800,\] \[y=300\] Income of first person \[=Rs.\,5\times 800\] = Rs. 4000 and income of second person \[=Rs.\,3\times 800\] = Rs. 2400
