Water flows through a cylindrical pipe, whose radius is 7 cm, at 5 m/s. The time, it takes to fill an empty water tank, with height 1.54 m and area of the base \[(3\times 5)\] square metre, is \[\left( \text{take}\,\,\pi =\frac{22}{7} \right)\]

    A) 6 min

    B) 5 min

    C) 10 min

    D) 9 min

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Volume of water flowing per second \[=\pi {{r}^{2}}h\] \[=\frac{22}{7}\times \frac{7\times 7\times 5}{10000}{{m}^{3}}\] \[=0.077\,{{m}^{3}}\] Volume of the tank \[=3\times 5\times 1.54\,{{m}^{3}}\]             \[=23.1\,{{m}^{3}}\] \[\therefore \] Required time \[=\frac{23.1}{0.077}=300\,s\] = 5 min
