  • question_answer
The total surface area of a solid right circular cylinder is twice that of a solid sphere. If they have the same radii, the ratio of the volume of the cylinder to that of the sphere is given by

    A) (a). 9 : 4

    B) 2 : 1

    C) 3 : 1

    D) 4 : 9

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    From the question, \[\Rightarrow \]   \[2\pi rh+2\pi {{r}^{2}}=8\pi {{r}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[=2\pi rh=6\pi {{r}^{2}}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{h}{r}=3\] \[\therefore \] Required ratio \[=\pi {{r}^{2}}h:\frac{4}{3}\pi {{r}^{3}}\]             \[=3h:4r=9:4\]
