    Solution :

    Let the parallel sides be 5x and 3x m. Area of trapezium \[=\frac{1}{2}\] (sum of parallel sides) \[\times \]distance between them \[\Rightarrow \]   \[1440=\frac{1}{2}(5x+3x)\times 24\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[12\times 8x=1440\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[x=\frac{1440}{12\times 8}=15\] \[\therefore \] The longer parallel side \[=5x\times 5\times 15=75\,\,m\]
